QuEra Computing Opens UK Hub at Harwell Campus to Accelerate Quantum Expansion in Europe
QuEra Computing, a global leader in neutral-atom quantum computing, has opened a flagship UK hub at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus to support its growth, commercialisation efforts, and technology development across the UK and Europe.
QuEra has taken over 3,500 sq. ft in Tech Foundry, a new high-specification Tech Box, designed to provide flexible research and development space alongside manufacturing and lab facilities. The new facility will house high-specification technology and lab space, featuring advanced temperature control and cleanliness standards. It is large enough to house a fully functional quantum computer, along with space for design, testing, and office work.

Earlier this year, QuEra completed a $230M funding round led by Google and Softbank to fuel global expansion. QuEra’s new facility builds on the company’s existing work at Harwell, where it is already collaborating with the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) to develop the world’s most advanced neutral-atom quantum testbed.
QuEra joins Harwell’s growing Quantum Cluster, home to the NQCC and a range of organisations from academia, government and industry. The cluster is focused on making quantum technology scalable and commercially viable, with applications ranging from drug discovery to energy optimisations and climate solutions.
Harwell’s commitment to advancing quantum technologies also includes nurturing early-stage talent through its Quantum Business Incubation Centre (QuBIC) which launched in April last year. Operated by STFC and supported nu the NQCC, QuBIC helps start-ups develop breakthrough quantum products and services, accelerating their path to market while strengthening the UK’s quantum talent pipelines.
