Nu Quantum Launches Qubit-Photon Interface (QPI) for Scalable Quantum Computing
Nu Quantum Launches Qubit-Photon Interface (QPI) for Scalable Quantum Computing!
Nu Quantum is thrilled to announce a game-changing development: the Qubit-Photon Interface (QPI). This innovative prototype is set to connect different quantum computers in a quantum network, making modular and distributed quantum computing a reality.
As the demand for quantum computing grows, current systems must scale up by a staggering 1,000 times. The QPI tackles one of the biggest challenges in the field: transferring quantum information between light and matter. With this technology, Nu Quantum aims to significantly improve entanglement rates, bringing industrial-scale quantum systems closer to reality.
The prototype has been successfully integrated into Infleqtion’s trapped atom vacuum system, showcasing impressive engineering feats, such as passive mechanical alignment and advanced locking techniques. Dr. Claire Le Gall from Nu Quantum expressed excitement about the development, stating, “This interface is crucial for scaling quantum computing, and we can’t wait to refine its performance further!”

The QPI enhances the interaction between qubits and photons using cutting-edge optical microcavities. Supported by Innovate UK under the ‘Calyx’ initiative, this project represents a major step toward making quantum technology more accessible.
As Nu Quantum continues its work towards connecting a variety of qubit providers, the future of quantum computing looks promising.
